Via Carpatia connects Rzeszów and Lublin
An almost 20-kilometre section of the S19 Niedrzwica Wielka – Kraśnik Północ expressway was commissioned, it allowed to connect Rzeszów and Lublin as part of the pan-European Via Carpatia project.
Via Carpatia in Poland
The S19 expressway is part of the Via Carpatia international route, which is ultimately intended to connect northern and southern parts of Europe. In Poland, the project is implemented thanks to co-financing from the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment.
The Polish section of the international route will be longer than 700 km long and will run through the Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, Lubelskie and Podkarpackie regions.
Faster from Rzeszów to Lublin
The section that was put into use is in the Lubelskie Region, in the Lubelskie poviat, in the following communes: Niedrzwica Duże, Strzyżewice and in the Kraśnik poviat, in the communes of Wilkołaz and Kraśnik. This is the last section of S19 connecting Lublin and Rzeszów/Rzeszów and Lublin. It was a part of the investment task for the S19 Lublin – Rzeszów expressway, on the section Lublin – end of the Kraśnik bypass road.
As part of the investment, 17 engineering structures, including 12 viaducts, two passages for large animals, a bridge and two footbridges were constructed. The task also included the construction of the Wilkołaz road junction.
