Empowering Road Safety through Human Resources Development in Azerbaijan

We are pleased to share the success of a recent mission within the project “Increasing road safety in Azerbaijan” focused on human resources development in Azerbaijan, aimed at improving road safety throughout the country. This mission was exceptional, bringing together experts and institutions from Poland and Azerbaijan with a common goal.

Competency Matrix for Excellence

One of the main highlights of this mission was the introduction of a Competency Matrix, a structured approach to defining the skills and knowledge required for various positions in institutions. This tool provides a clear understanding of the competencies needed for each role, facilitating employee performance assessments and the design of tailored training programs to fill any skills gaps.

Strengthening Road Safety Expertise

In an effort to identify strengths and weaknesses in the field of road safety, experts delved into specific areas and roles related to road safety, where the Ministry and its associated institutions may require additional specialist knowledge. This proactive approach ensures a comprehensive and robust road safety ecosystem.

Collaboration with Universities

The mission also included productive meetings with various institutions like universities, which play a crucial role in shaping the future of human resources. Meetings with the Ministry of Science and Education, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, and Azerbaijan Technical University aimed to underscore the significant role these institutions play in preparing students and specialists in the field of road safety.

Empowering the Young Generation

During these meetings, experts had the opportunity to review materials prepared by the Ministry of Science and Education. These materials focus on educating children about safe behaviour on the road, emphasizing the importance of instilling good habits from a young age.

Adapting Programs to Job Market Needs

The experts collaborated with university representatives to assess the current state of expertise in the field of road safety and discuss the need to adapt programs to align with the job market’s requirements. This adaptability is essential for preparing specialists who can effectively contribute to enhancing road safety in Azerbaijan.

This mission was a significant step towards building a safer and more secure road environment in Azerbaijan. Collaboration and knowledge exchange between institutions and experts are crucial in shaping a brighter and safer future for all. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of this mission in the days to come.
